formative and summative assessment policies
Grading Policy:
A high school student's grade will be determined by
-summative assessments such as unit tests, projects and map tests….......60%
-formative assessments such as opening work, assignments, quizzes…….40%
A middle school student's grade will be determined by
-summative assessments such as unit tests, projects and map tests.........40%
-formative assessments such as opening work, assignments, quizzes.......60%
Formative Assessments:
Students are encouraged to complete all assignments. All assignments are due on the designated dates at the beginning of class.
If a student does not submit an assignment on time, the student may have the opportunity to submit the assignment but a score of zero will be recorded.
Students will be provided reminder notes the following week that he/she is missing an assignment. The student will have until Thursday morning to submit the assignment. The student's grade will be an average of the recorded zero and the completed, late assignment.
For an absence that is not school-related, a student will have two class periods to complete the assignment that was assigned during the absence.
Summative Assessments:

If a student is not pleased with a test score, he/she has two school days to retake the test. The highest of the two scores will be recorded.
